Communication secretary Raut and two more arrested in Lalita Niwas scam

Kathmandu / July 9: Krishna Bahadur Raut, secretary at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, has been arrested in connection with the Lalita Niwas land grab scam.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Raut from the domestic terminal of the Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday while he was on his way to Biratnagar from Kathmandu.

Earlier on Sunday, the CIB arrested former survey officer Dhruba Aryal and head of Samarjung Company, Lokhari Ghimire, in the same case.

Likewise, the CIB has already nine persons on the same issue.

Prior to this, CIB had held Min Bahadur Gurung, 69, owner of the Bhatbhateni Super Market, Dharma Prasad Gautam, 80, of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-7, Gopal Karki, 70, of Chandragiri Municipality-3 and Sudhir Shah, 68, of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-4 on charge of their involvement in the forgery of government documents intending to transfer public land at Lalita Niwas in Baluwatar in the name of private individuals.

The CIB has said investigations are underway and they will be concluded soon. RSS
