Nine Nepalis reportedly injured in attacks in Israel, says foreign ministry
Kathmandu / Oct. 07: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday said nine Nepalis were reportedly injured, two of them seriously, in an attack by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in Israel.
In a statement, the ministry said a farm where 14 Nepalis were working came under attack.
The ministry further said the Nepali Embassy in Israel is in close communication with the Nepalis living in the areas under attack.
The embassy is also in contact and coordination with the Israeli authorities for the safety, security and rescue of the Nepalis as well as medical treatment of the injured, according to the ministry.
The foreign ministry has requested Nepalis in Israel to remain cautious and follow the safety measures advised by the authorities.
Earlier today, Nepal’s Ambassador to Israel Kanta Rizal, currently in Herzliya, a city on the central coast of Israel, confirmed the incident.
Shree Krishna Bhandari, president of the Israel chapter of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, urged the Nepalis who are in trouble to contact the embassy and the association. The organisation issued a statement on Saturday appealing to all to follow the security-related alerts issued by the Israeli government.
Hamas launched the biggest attack on Israel in years on Saturday, killing scores of people in a surprise assault that combined gunmen penetrating into Israeli towns with a barrage of rockets fired from the Gaza Strip, Reuters reported.
