Dhulikhel Community Hospital to host int’l conference on disaster preparedness

Kavrepalanchowk / Nov 9: Dhulikhel Community Hospital is preparing to organise an international conference on disaster preparedness and management at the hospital in Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchok on December 1-3. Disaster experts from various countries will participate in the three-day conference where they will hold a comprehensive discussion on disaster preparedness adopted by various countries in the world.

Dhulikhel hospital said it will adopt new methods of disaster preparedness and management following discussion with other health institutions during the conference. Prof Dr Balaram Malla, coordinator of the conference, said there will be a broad discussion on disasters, their impact and shock, emergency rescue and communication, and various other issues related to preparedness, inter-department, inter-hospital communication coordination during the conference.

The conference will discuss and share experiences of over 4,000 victims of the catastrophic 2015 earthquake. Other issues include preparations to be adopted by health institutions during disasters and the role of the stakeholders.

Experts from various countries will present papers during the conference. The conference will also make a plan for disaster risk reduction and preparedness.
