Lamichhane and Joshi’s custody extended for seven days; Rupandehi Court issues arrest warrants against Lamichhane and Joshi
Pokhara / Oct 24: The Kaski district court has remanded Rabi Lamichhane in the custody for seven more days.
A single bench of Judge Chandra Kant Paudel permitted the Police to keep Lamichhane in the custody for seven days and continue investigation into his involvement in the misappropriation of the deposits in the Pokhara based Surya Darshan Cooperatives.
President o Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Lamichhane, who is also former Home Minister, was arrested on October 18 to investigate about his role in the fraud case of the Cooperatives.
Earlier in the week, the court had remanded Lamichhane for six days.
Ex-DIG Joshi’s judicial custody extended by seven days
Meanwhile, the Kaski District Court on Thursday granted the police the permission to detain former DIG Chhabilal Joshi for an additional seven days for investigation. Joshi was arrested on the charge of embezzlement of co-operative funds. He is one of the former directors of Gorkha Media.
Joshi and Lamichhane were presented to the Kaski District Court today in connection with the embezzlement of the funds of Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara.
Rupandehi District Court issues arrest warrants against Rabi Lamichhane and Chhabilal Joshi
Meanwhile, the Rupandehi District Court has issued an arrest warrant against Rabi Lamichhane, and former DIG Chhabilal Joshi. Judge Shyam Prasad Shrestha approved the warrants as part of an investigation into organized crime related to the Supreme Cooperative fraud case in Butwal.
The court has sanctioned the arrest of 12 individuals connected to the case. Previously, Joshi provided a two-day statement regarding the illegal transfer of Supreme Cooperative funds to Gorkha Media Network, where Lamichhane served as a Managing Director.
Currently, both Lamichhane and Joshi are detained in Pokhara, where police are conducting further investigations.
