NBA chair candidates rules out compromise in free and independent judiciary

Nepal Bar AssociationKathmandu / March 26: Candidates vying for the coveted post of the President of the Nepal Bar Association in the upcoming election have expressed their commitment to protect the judiciary from political interference.

Speaking at a programme hosted by the Reporters’ Club today, chairman’s candidate from the side of the democratic lawyers Sher Bahadur KC said that there would be no compromise for free judiciary. Justifying his candidacy, KC further committed to respect the norms of justice and democracy.

Similarly, another candidate representing the progressive lawyers Bijay Kanta Mainali said that his candidacy was for making the legal profession dignified and maintaining its independent character.

Likewise, other candidates to the post representing from the lawyers near to Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Ram Prasad Prajapati and Rajkumar Thapa representing the Patriots Lawyers’ Group assured to stop political interference in the judicial sector if they were elected.
