Members for Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) endorsed

Kathmandu, July 9: Today’s meeting of the House of Representatives endorsed the nomination of members to the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC). Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara had proposed the names representing various parties in the Committee.

Accordingly, the nominated lawmakers are Amrita Thapa, Nirudevi Pal, Parbat Gurung, Purna Kumari Subedi, Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, Shiva Kumar Mandal Kebat and Surendra Prasad Pandey from the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN).

Similarly, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Bhimsen Das Pradhan and Pushpa Bhusal from Nepali Congress and Laxman Lal Karna from Rastriya Janata Party Nepal and Rajendra Prasad Shrestha from Federal Socialist Forum were also nominated to the PHSC.

Likewise, CPN’s Suman Pyakurel and Nanda Chapai and NC’s Jitendra Narayan Dev from National Assembly are also in the PHSC.

Earlier, Speaker Mahara read out a letter received from the Office of the President about the certification of the bills by President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

Meanwhile, the NC presented a motion of Public Importance to save the life of Prof Dr Govinda KC by immediately introducing a bill for the reform of medical education and overall health sector.

Dr KC is on a hunger strike in Jumla, putting forth various demands including reforms in the medical education sector.

Presenting the proposal, lawmaker Dilendra Prasad Badu demanded that the government introduce a new bill as per the ordinance issued by the erstwhile government for reforms in medical education and health sector.

He also drew the government’s attention towards deteriorating health condition of Dr KC.

Seconding the motion presented by Badu, NC’s lawmaker Atahar Musalman and Parbati DC Chaudhary urged the government to be serious towards reforms of the overall health sector including medical education in the country.
