COVID-19 update: 105 New Cases and 272 Recoveries

Kathmandu / Feb. 5: With 105 new cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed on Friday, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 271,707.

“In 2,799 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 105 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its daily update.

Of the 105 new cases, 58 were reported in the Kathmandu Valley.

Currently, there are 2,708 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 743 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolation and the remaining are placed in home isolation. Of the active patients, 64 are admitted to the ICU while 13 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.

A total of 92 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad are placed in quarantine across the nation.

Meanwhile, 272 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 267,564 cases of recovery.

Moreover, two persons succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the COVID-19 death toll to 2,305.
