119 New Cases of COVID-19 and 260 recoveries in 24 hours
Kathmandu / Feb. 7: With 119 new cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed on Sunday, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 271,925.
“In 2,251 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 119 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in the regular press briefing.
Of the new cases, 55 were reported in the Kathmandu Valley.
Currently, there are 1,815 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 931 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolation and the remaining are placed in home isolation. Of the active patients, 56 are admitted to the ICU while 11 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.
A total of 92 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad are placed in quarantine across the nation.
Meanwhile, 260 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 268,072 cases of recovery and the recovery rate at 98.6 per cent.
Moreover, two persons succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the COVID-19 death toll to 2,038.
