COVID-19 update: 127 new infections in 24 hours

Kathmandu / Feb. 12: The Ministry of Health and Population on Friday confirmed 127 new cases of COVID-19, taking the nation’s novel coronavirus tally to 272,557.

“In 4,000 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 127 persons were found with the SARS-CoV-2 infection,” informed the Health Ministry in its regular update.

Currently, there are 1,707 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 1,004 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolation and the remaining are placed in home isolation. Of the active patients, 62 are admitted to the ICU and 14 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.

A total of 79 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad are placed in quarantine across the nation. Meanwhile, 136 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.

Nepal has now recorded 268,796 cases of recovery and the recovery rate at 98.6 per cent. Moreover, with two fatalities in the last 24 hours, Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 2,054.
