Nepal bags two bronze medals in Karate

Kathmandu / October 13: Two Nepali athletes have won bronze medals in the 23rd SKDUN World Shotokan Karate Championships and the 8th World Kohai Cup being held at Subotica in Serbia.

Bindan Thapa Magar defeated Bulgarian and Romanian athletes in Individual Kumute under the 55- kg weight group of the 14-15 age Boys’ Cadet Event to enter the semi finals. Thapa Magar was awarded the bronze medal after losing to a Serbian athlete on basis of points in the semi final.

In the 12-13 age Mini Cadet Event under the 55-kg weight group of the same championship, Rupesh Kunwar lost to another Serbian athlete on basis of points in the Individual Kumute.

Kunwar had also defeated athletes from Bulgaria and Romania to secure semi final berth, said Head Coach Govinda Shrestha. RSS
