President Yadav urges all to unite to make country prosperous

president-ram-baran-yadavKathmandu / October 16: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has urged all people to unite for building a prosperous Nepal and consolidating the national unity.

“Economic prosperity is the country’s important destination and for that the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) plays an important role,” President Yadav said, while addressing the 7th International General Assembly and Global Conference of the NRNA here in the Capital.

Stating that Nepali people living abroad provided ‘notable’ support to the April 25 earthquake survivors, Dr Yadav said that he believes that NRNA would provide aid in reconstruction of the structures ravaged by the quake ahead.

“Although the quake destroyed everything, Nepali people united to cope with the disaster. Nepalis living home and abroad have an important role to make Nepal prosperous again,” said Dr Yadav. He said that there are many opportunities to bring about better changes in the country through the knowledge, skills and technology with the non-resident Nepalis.

Saying that people’s seven-decade long aspirations to write the constitution through their elected representatives’ body, Constituent Assembly, have been fulfilled, he said that rights and interests of various communities and groups could be ensured through the implementation of the Democratic, Federal and Inclusive constitution.

He also stressed on the need for all political parties to move ahead together to sort out challenges that may surface during the implementation of the constitution.

The Head of the State expressed hope that voices of all groups, communities would be addressed, pointing out the need to protect the nationality.

He urged the non-resident Nepalis to go to their villages to acquire citizenship cards as per new provisions that allows the non-resident Nepalis to get citizenship cards, and also expressed hope that such provision would help Nepal become prosperous.

Meanwhile, addressing the conference, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kamal Thapa said that the new constitution has strengthened the unity of non-resident Nepalis further, alongside their economy, and social and cultural identity.

DPM Thapa further said that NRNS have important role to play for social, economic and political transformation of the country. He said NRNA is taken as excellent crusader of economic diplomacy of the country and that an environment has been created for the stability and peace, and for making investments after the promulgation of the new constitution.

DPM Thapa said that the contribution of NRNA for economic and social development of the country through its knowledge and skills, is highly evaluated.

President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Pashupati Murarka, urged to end the general strike and protest as such activities were ruining economic activities in the nation and the economic sector had already faced huge crisis due to the devastating earthquake.

Similarly, newly re-elected NRN chair Shesh Ghale said the Association would partner for the reconstruction of the quake damaged areas in the country.

The founder chair of the NRNA Upendra Mahato said that there would be no meaning of success acquired by Nepalese unless nation gets success and prosperity, and for the same the NRNs would play a vital role.

Over 1,500 NRNA members are participating in the conference. The conference will elect a new working committee. RSS
