PM Oli questions what kind of friendship is this to strangulate a friend; vows to seek solution on basis of national consensus

PM & FNJKathmandu / November 6: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that the government was for a free, responsible, safe and valued journalism.

PM Oli said it while talking to representatives of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), at his office Singh Durbar today. The FNJ team had reached Singh Durbar to congratulate PM Oli on his election to the high post.

Prime Minister Oli said freedom does not mean anarchy, we should go towards maturity and the country needed national unity and feeling of nationality therefore people should show their patriotism and love for the nation.

He added that the people were showing extraordinary patriotism and love for nation these days and the government was searching alternatives to normalize the difficulties as the country had already incurred loss of over 50 billion rupees due to the border blockade from the neighbouring country.

PM Oli claimed that the new constitution was progressive enough therefore he was ready to hold discussions in the issues regarding the new constitution referring to those who were terming the constitution as regressive one. He said that the government was ready to resolve the Terai problems through dialogues.

Similarly, PM Oli added that the government would promote the policy to purchase electric vehicles and heaters as the people were facing fuel crisis due to border blockade.

He said, “The government is concerned about resolving the current crisis. I am personally very sad and sensitive for the public bearing the brunt of crisis.”

PM Oli further accused that the southern neighbor had deliberately imposed trade embargo by not providing petroleum products and caused obstruction to the reconstruction tasks in the aftermath of the April 25 earthquake.

Oli was of the belief that India did so showing its disapproval over the newly promulgated constitution to which he clarified, “As the new constitution was promulgated by Nepalis for Nepalis and intended no malice towards none.”

Furthermore, the PM argued that the new national charter was promulgated constitutionally and after deliberating in each clause and was endorsed by the overwhelming majority of the Constituent Assembly members.

On the occasion, Dr Mahendra Bista, President of Federation, had drawn the attention of the PM towards the hardships facing the country and countrymen as well as media persons following the border blockade.

Meanwhile, receiving the memorandum of Nepali Congress affiliated Nepal Tarun Dal, Prime Minister Oli said the solution to all sorts of prevailing problems in the country would be sought on the basis of national agreement and cooperation.

The PM expressed commitment to bring results through a determined undertaking to make Nepali people prosperous by tapping the abundance of water resources and natural heritages. He also pledged to take the lead in running Nepal in a new way.

The people are compelled to witness peculiar responses to the democratic constitution drafted by adhering to the complete and necessary procedure, PM Oli said, adding that Nepal’s neighbour had impeded Nepal’s progress by withholding the supply of fuel at a time when the country was facing hard times with the earthquake.

“We are forced to come across an inhumane behaviour, it is very painful thing that such behaviou is being meted out to Nepali people who were injured during the earthquake,” PM Oli said. “We do not harbour any ill sentiment towards our neighbour India, nor have we thought of moving against its interest.”

He slammed the Indian government of supplying rotten fish, tomatoes and other vegetables to prove that it is not imposing a blockade, but not supplying cooking gas. “We need at least 90 gas bullets on a daily basis, but we do not receive more than one,” PM said.

On the occasion, Tarun Dal President Udaya Shumsher Rana demanded finalization of the bill pending at the parliament for formation of the Reconstruction Authority, and drew the attention of the PM towards the need to work seriously when people are facing a crisis. RSS
