‘Teach for Nepal’ to deploy volunteers in three districts

Teach for NepalKathmandu / February 10: ‘Teach for Nepal’, an organisation working for upliftment of quality education in the rural areas through changes in existing teaching learning activities, is all prepared to deploy altogether 45 youth volunteers in three districts.

The volunteers would be sent to the remote areas in Sindhupalchowk, Dhanusha and Lalitpur districts to teach the students there for two years, the organisation said at a programme here on Tuesday. As high as 7,000 students are expected to take direct benefit from this scheme.

Coordinator of the volunteer selection committee, Shailendra Jha, said that the volunteers who have earned their bachelor’s degree would be sent to the schools that have poor educational performance to teach the students and the organisation would assess the results.

On the occasion, Executive Director of Shakti Samuha Sunita Danuwar said that women’s trafficking was on the rise due to poverty and lack of education.

It is said that a total of 5,055 applicants had applied expressing their interest to serve as the volunteers of ‘Teach for Nepal’. The organisation said that 100 volunteers would be selected from the next year. RSS
