CIAA directs NOC to improve fuel distribution system

CIAAKathmandu / February 21: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has warned of bringing the senior-officials of the state-owned Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) under the ambit of law if there was no smooth distribution and supply of petroleum products soon.

Summoning the NOC Managing Director, Gopal Bahadur Khadka, and Director Mukunda Prasad Ghimire today, the CIAA directed the duo to resolve the problems immediately, citing the lack of transparency in fuel distribution and the compulsion of customers to queue for many hours to get few litres of fuel.

Stating that the NOC failed to heed to its repeated directive to make fuel distribution transparent and easy for the consumers, the CIAA today warned of initiating action againt the higher authorities of NOC if problems were not resolved immediately.

CIAA Spokesperson Krishna Hari Pushkar told RSS that the CIAA had warned of action against the NOC high-officials if the fuel crisis was not resolved soon, as negligence of NOC was found to have been the reason behind the delay in the smooth supply of fuel despite supplies from India returning back to normal including from the Birgunj border check point.

On the occasion, Khadka and Ghimire expressed commitment of improving fuel distribution system. They also committed to providing fuel to petrol pumps as per the demand. “We will formulate a clear concept on how there would be easy and smooth supply of petroleum products”, Khadka said.

According to Khadka NOC now has a stock of 1,300 kilolitres of petrol, 4,200 kilolitres of diesel, 290 kilolitres of kerosene and 3,700 kilolitres of aviation fuel in Kathmandu valley. RSS
