‘Solidarity for statute implementation- a true tribute to Sushil’

Sushil Condolence meetKathmandu / February 21: Leaders of various political parties have noted that all-party strong solidarity for the successful implementation of the constitution would only pay a true tribute to the late Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala.

At a condolence assembly organized by the NC Central Committee on the 13th ritual day of President Koirala here on Sunday, various leaders underscored that said the successful implementation of the constitution would complete his unfulfilled dream.

NC acting President Ram Chandra Poudel said there are several lessons the party and the country have to learn from Sushil Koirala –a leader with high integrity, honesty, sacrifice and dutifulness.

The responsibility of making clean and consolidated Congress as per the wish of the late NC President Koirala has come to our shoulder, Poudel said, adding, “Koirala wished to draw a sense of respect to the politics in the country. We have to complete his mission”.

On the occasion, NC senior leader and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said he recognized the late Koirala as a leader never compromising with democratic ideals and values and will respect him as a simple and virtuous leader.

It is our shared responsibility to complete his unaccomplished tasks of successfully implementing the constitution and addressing ongoing Madhes agitation, leader Deuba said, stressing the need of unity and reconciliation within the party to garner strength to that end.

Unified CPN (Maoist) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal pointed out the urgency of all-party consensus and cooperation to overcome remaining challenges in implementing the constitution amd added it would only pay a true tribute to the late Koirala.

CPN-UML acting Chairperson Bamdev Gautam recalled his consistent cooperation to the late Sushil Koirala-led government notwithstanding he was from the different party. He saluted the late Koirala for his umpteen contributions to promulgate the constitution of the country.

Acting Prime Minister and Chair of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) Bijay Kumar Gachhadar said that the late Koirala will be ever remembered in Nepal’s history for his herculean task of delivering a constitution through people-elected Constituent Assembly.

Also speaking at the assembly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chair and former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand appreciated the late Koirala’s political mediation skill that eased the delivery of the constitution through CA. He recognized Koirala as a leader with action and dedication.

Likewise, CPN-ML Chair and Deputy Prime Minister CP Mainali, NC general secretary Prakash Man Singh, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Co-chair Rajendra Shrestha, RPP-N general secretary Dhawal Shumsher Rana, Nepal Pariwar Dal Chairperson and Peace and Reconstruction Minister Eknath Dahakal, Bahujan Shakti Party Chair and Environment Minister Biswendra Paswan, CPN-Maoist (Revolutionary) Vice-Chair CP Gajurel and the late Koirala’s friend from Banaras Deepak Mallik, among others highlighted various aspects of the personal and political life of Koirala.
