Zuckerberg: No Place for Hate Speech on Facebook

ZuckerbergFebruary 26: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says more work still needs to be done to police hate speech on the social media site in Germany.

Answering a question Friday at a town hall event in Berlin, Zuckerberg said “hate speech has no place on Facebook” and that he had being instituting better controls on monitoring and removing it.

German officials have expressed concerns about far-right and other groups using Facebook to spread their messages. Zuckerberg talked personally with Chancellor Angela Merkel about the issue last year.

Zuckerberg says “until recently in Germany I don’t think we were doing a good enough job, and I think we will keep needing to do a … better job.”

He says Facebook in Germany now treats migrants as a “protected class” of people. Associated Press
