Over 1,800 MW power in two years

ElectricityKathmandu / April 15: The government has projected to generate 1,846 MW electricity within two years. Similarly, the government has projected to produce 1,423 MW power in the winter season.

A total of 628 MW electricity would be generated from the projects based on the river flow, 106 MW from reservoir projects after the construction of Kulekhani III and 930 MW electricity would be imported from India.

Similarly, 200 MW power would be generated from renewable energy sources.
It has been estimated that the demand of power would be increased by 12 per cent annually. According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, now 560 MW electricity is being supplied every day against the demand for 1,325 MW.

As per the action plan presented by the Ministry of Energy at the Agriculture and Water Resource Committee under the Legislature-Parliament, there would be power outage of around five hours daily as there would be no supply of power in winter season as per the demand.

The Energy Ministry has projected that additional 295 MW electricity would be generated from the run-of-the-river-type projects in next year.

Similarly, a total of 1,067 MW electricity would be available from Kulekhani I and II, 580 MW from India and 100 MW from renewable energy sources.

The NEA stated that there would be a shortfall of 356 MW power in the central transmission line.

The Energy Ministry has projected that total production would reach 1,567 MW if only 92 MW power is imported from India next year. RSS
