Discussion on draft of Journalists’ Code of Conduct-2073

FNJ OfficeKathmandu / July 8: Press Council Nepal held a discussion on the draft of Journalists’ Code of Conduct -2073 on Friday.

It was informed that discussion was held on the draft reasoning that the previous code of conduct could not encompass the changed media landscape.

Chairman of the High level Media Advisory Committee, Kashiraj Dahal said in addition to the Council’s code, every media should prepare and implement their code of conduct.

Nepal Bar Association’s Treasurer Gyan Ratna Shakya said the present draft was comparatively broader and comprehensive, and it could be implemented based on expert’s suggestions.

The present draft has included 30 points on journalists’ conduct and eight points on social responsibility.

Other speakers as Om Sharma, Kundan Aryal and Mohan Singh suggested that the draft could be debated further for more suggestions to make it a complete document. RSS
