NRA gives authorisation for budget release for house rebuilding

Nepal Reconstruction AuthorityKathmandu / July 27: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has given authorization for budget release (Rs 20 billion) for providing the first installment of house rebuilding grants promised by the government to last year’s earthquake survivors.

Some Rs 24 billion is necessary to deposit first installment of house rebuilding grants in the bank accounts of house owners eligible for receiving the grants. The amount will be released through the Ministry of Local Development and Federal Affairs.

A total of 533,168 house owners from quake-affected districts are in a list of those eligible for receiving Rs 200,000 announced by the government and 37,072 are already provided with the first installment.

The Ministry of Finance has already given the authorisation for budget release of approximately Rs 84 billion to the NRA to carry out the post-earthquake reconstruction efforts, according to NRA Spokesperson Ram Prasad Thapaliya. The grants will be provided in three installments through banks. RSS
