Lighting disrupts power supply in villages

LightingBaitadi / July 31: The Raleshwor village in Baitadi is living under darkness for the past one month after a lighting strike put out the power supply.

The villagers have been complaining that although they had notified the local electricity authority there has not been any effort to restore the power.

The absence of power has disrupted normal life in the village with locals even unable to recharge their mobile phones, a local of the area, Narendra Bista said.

Raleshwor Higher Secondary School has not been able to turn on the computers whereas the local health post is unable to keep the vaccines in the refrigerators, Raleshwor Health Post in-charge, Depuram Rana said.

The electricity service was also been disrupted in Patan Municipality after a transformer was struck with lighting, according to Electricity Authority, Baitadi.

The Electricity Authority does not have a spare transformer and it will take some time to repair the damaged transformers, said Authority’s officer, Madhav Prasad Lekhak.

The power supply has been disrupted in more than five localities in the district, Lekhak added. “We are trying to repair them,” he assured. RSS
