India wants to see peace, stability, development in Nepal: Mukherjee

president-profileKathmandu / Aug 19: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Bimalendra Nidhi, who is currently on India visit, paid a courtesy call on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi on Friday.

DPM Nidhi, who is visiting India as a special envoy of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, paid the country call on Indian President, said Nidhi’s personal secretary Bishwas Bikram. During the meeting, Indian President Mukherjee said India always wants to see peace, stability and development in Nepal.

During the meeting, DPM Nidhi handed a letter of invitation sent by Nepali President Bidya Devi Bhandari to her Indian counterpart Mukherjee, to visit Nepal. The meeting also discussed President Bhandari’s visit to India. Earlier, President Bhandari’s visit to India was cancelled at the last hour.

The high level meetings DPM Nidhi had during Friday received appreciations of Nepal government’s efforts to amend constitution and address demands of the Madhesi political parties, added Nidhi’s secretary Bikram.

DPM Nidhi’s high-level meetings with Indian officials focused on discussions about the likely visits of President Bhandari and Prime Minister Dahal to India in near future, and the Nepal visits of Indian PM and President.

The visiting DPM met with Indian Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sushma Swaraj on Friday itself. He is scheduled to call on Indian Prime Minister Modi on Saturday morning.

He left here Thursday for New Delhi for the preparations of the exchange of high level visits and high-level political meetings as per the decision of the government. RSS
