Respective DAOs to issue route permit

traval busKavrepalanchok / Aug 28: In a bid to control increasing road accidents lately, the government has brought in place a provision allowing the respective District Administration Office to issue the route permit.

The provision presented by the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak was approved by Cabinet on Friday, replacing the earlier provision that authorises only the Transport Management Office to issue route permit for vehicles across the country.

It is believed that the new provision would become effective in curbing road accidents as route permit would be issued after assessing situation of roads of particular area and evaluating numbers of vehicles needed for that area.

Addressing the condolence assembly in memory of those killed in a bus accident at Birta Deurali-9 in Kavrepalanchok on August 15, Minister Lekhak said that the new provision would help control road accidents.

At the event, local people demanded a ban on the plying of vehicles on the Dolalghat-Kartike Deurali road until it is repaired. They also complained that those passenger vehicles that are not affiliated to the Araniko Transport are not allowed to ply the road, demanding an end to the syndicate. RSS
