Compensation for victims of wildlife attacks afoot: Minister Bhandari

tigerBhadrapur / Oct 28: Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Shankar Bhandari has said the government was preparing to provide compensation of one million rupees each to the families of those losing lives to wildlife attacks.

During his inspection of the District Forest Office Jhapa today, the Minister unveiled the government preparations for coming up with a relief scheme for the families of the people killed and mutilated by wild animals.

He said the government was committed to bring anyone found guilty of forest irregularities to book. Reduction in the area covered by community and public forests unlike of jungle area owned by individuals is the concern of the government, he said, directing the Office Chief and employees to perform their duties honestly.

The minister vowed official support to renovate the area building of the Office that is in a poor state.

Director General of Department of Forests Krishna Chandra Acharya underlined the need of all-side support, cooperative and participation for sustainable development of forests. RSS
