1000 over expedition permits issued for autumn ascent

Moun EverestKathmandu / Nov 7: More than 1,069 aspiring mountaineers have obtained permit to climb various mountains in the country in the autumn fall.

Gyanendra Kumar Shrestha, Liaison Officer at the Department of Tourism, shared that the weather during mid-September to mid-November is considered appropriate for climbing.

Shrestha was hopeful that more mountaineering aspirants would obtain climbing permit as the permit would be issued by mid November.

Earlier in 2014, a total of 1,385 mountaineers had obtained the permit while more than 2,000 climbers were granted permit in 2015, according to Shrestha.

The mountains aspirants would want to ascend include Mount Manaslu, Mount Kanchanjunga, Mount Dhaulagiri and Mount Ama Dablam among others.

Although some mountaineers were reported to have climbed Mount Manaslu, it is yet to be ascertained, he said. RSS
