World Disaster Report 2016 released

Natural DisasterKathmandu / Dec 6: One out of 113 people became a refugee or was poised to displacement in 2015, said the World Disasters Report 2016, which was released in the Capital City on Tuesday.

The report has called on the world to augment investment in the disaster preparedness. The hottest year ever was 2015, added the report.

Nepal Red Cross Society Chairman Sanjiv Thapa, Head of the International Federation of Red Cross Societies’ Nepal Country Office, Max Santner, and Joint Secretary at Home Ministry Krishna Raut jointly released the report.

As per the report, 65 million people had to flee their countries owing to various reasons while 40 million among them forced to leave the country for struggle and violence.

During the programme, presentations were made on the post-quake activities in Nepal. RSS
