Minister Joshi prods BFIs to invest in small industries

nabindra-raj-joshiKathmandu / Dec 6: Minister for Industry, Navindra Raj Joshi, has urged the banks and financial institutes to augment investment on small and cottage industries.

During a discussion held with the chiefs and representatives of the BFIs at his Ministry on Tuesday, Minister Joshi said small entrepreneurs must be encouraged to create jobs for the sustainable development activities. “Government is ready to provide security to the BFIs’ investments. The BFIs need to invest certain amount of their income in the small industries,” the Minister said, reiterating that government is ready to formulate every law required for the same.

Similarly, Minister of State for Industry Kanchan Chandra Bade said government was making utmost efforts to create jobs within the country, and cooperation was sought with the BFIs to increase investment in the skill generating areas.

The BFIs’ chiefs and representatives said for the promotion of the small industrialists, they should be empowered through training. For the security of BFIs’ investment in small industries, coordination from government is essential, they argued.

The representatives from NMB, Kailash Bikas Bank, Jyoti Bikas Bank, Janata Bank, Nepal Bangladesh Bank and Siddhartha Bikas Bank had participation during the discussion. RSS
