World Disability Inclusive Conference kicks off in Kathmandu
Kathmandu / Dec 6: A three-day World Disability Inclusive Conference has kicked off here on Tuesday with the slogan ‘include us’.
The Conference has underscored the need of addressing the rights of children and youths with disability to obtain education.
The Plan International — an indepdendant humanitarian aid organization — has convened the conference in Kathmandu as the second edition of World Disability Inclusive Conference.
Inaugurating the conference, Minister for Education Dhaniram Poudel said Nepal has advanced towards building equitable and discrimination free society upholding the principles of inclusion and participation. “I have seen the relevance of the Disability Inclusive Conference being organized in Nepal”, he added.
Minister Poudel urged all sides to engage their efforts in the making of society where children with disabilities can survive in a comfortable manner.
On the occasion, Plan International Nepal Country Director Sven Coppens said the organization has developed its appropriate and specialized expertise to reach out to the children reeling under disabilities, exclusion and backwardness lately. RSS
