NRNA’s undertakes construction of Model Integrated Settlement in Gorkha

nrnGorkha / Dec 31: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has initiated the construction of the Laprak Model Integrated Settlement at Gupsipakha in Gorkha district.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on October 7 this year had laid the foundation stone for the construction of the settlement at Gupsipakha in the district having epicenter of the last year’s 7.6 magnitude Gorkha Earthquake.

The NRNA has started making plots to build quake-resilient houses by removing as many as 617 temporary shelters nearby Gupsipakha jungle where the Laprak folks had been residing after their entire village was leveled by the 7.6 magnitude quake.

The site has been provided by the government for the NRNA to build such settlement where houses will be built on design approved by the National Reconstruction Authority.

NRNA President Shesh Ghale-led team had visited the site on December 26 and expedited the preliminary works in connection to the model integrated settlement expected to be built within two years.

Basic public services as drinking water, sanitation facilities and power supply will be ensured in the settlement where a public buildings as well as school buildings are aimed to be built within a year.

The quake-survivors Laprak folks were not distributed the relief aid since they will be receiving the private houses vowed to be built for them by the NRNA for free. RSS
