SC decision returns former princess Prerana’s land to Nepal Trust

Supreme CourtKathmandu / Jan 5: The Supreme Court has issued a verdict that the land (15 ropani and 1 ana) at Chhahuni of Kathmandu which former princess Prerana Shah has claimed ownership citing source of dowry, would no longer belong to her but to Nepal Trust.

A division bench of Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Justices Deepak Karki and Sapana Malla Pradhan on Thursday decided that the land belonging to former princes Prerana would now onward be Nepal government’s property, informed Joint Spokesperson at SC, Bishworaj Poudel.

With the abolishment of monarchy, the government had decided to transfer the properties belonging to former king and his family members to the Nepal Trust.

However, former princess Prerana had filed application at SC seeking her property back, arguing that she got it as dowry. Earlier, the SC had decided that Prerana would own the land.

Today’s verdict reversed the earlier decision in response to a review application filed by Nepal Trust. RSS
