NC pays tribute to late leader Sushil Koirala
Kathmandu / Feb 8: Tribute was paid to former party President of Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala who had a significant role in promulgating the constitution from the Constituent Assembly amidst a programme organised today at the NC central party office, Sanepa.
At the programme organised to mark the first death anniversary of Koirala, party senior leaders, remembering him as a true political leader, insisted that it would be tribute to him in a real sense if the constitution was enforced in an effective way and three-tier elections would take place within the stipulated date.
He had passed away in the night of February 8, 2016 at the age of 77.
On the occasion, party sitting President Sher Bahadur Deuba said Nepal’s achieved the constitution due to strong determination and tremendous efforts of Koirala. Effective implementation of the country’s main law was the prime need as well as the current challenge of the nation.
Leader Koirala who had dedicated his entire life to the struggle for the cause of democracy was a successful leader, he said.
The president of the government major ruling partner took the opportunity to say that the local poll would be hold at any cost.
Also speaking on the occasion, party senior leader Ramchandra Poudel said leader Koirala, an epitome of dedication, honesty, and good conducts, was an inspiration to all. He was of the view of finalising the constitution amendment bill as soon as possible and thereby announcing the date for local poll.
Party General Secretary Dr Sashank Koirala, treasurer and Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Sitadevi Yadav and other senior leaders including Prakashman Singh, Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Gopalman Shrestha highlighted the ‘incomparable’ contribution of the late leader to the strengthening of party and his sacrifice for the welfare of the nation and people.
