Research on music, drama and dance kicks off

Music isSalyan / March 25: A research on music, drama and dance has been launched in all ten districts of Province no 6 with an aim to give continuity to the art forms.

Drama and Music Academy’s Academician, Pabitra Gharti Magar, spoke of the necessity for converting the diversity found in the music and arts of the districts into words.

“Due to various reasons our traditional culture is facing a danger of extinction, it needs to be preserved and converted into text for the posterity,” she said. Teams have already been dispatched to different parts of the districts for research and study.

Expert on folk music, dance and drama, Prof Dambar Bahadur Pun, said a report on the research and study held in Province no 6 will be presented to the academy council after three months.

At a programme on ‘Collection of Folk Literature (Folk Music Drama and Dance) in Salyan’, litterateur, Bhadra Singh Budha, called on the government for efforts to conserve the folk literature verging on extinction.

District Coordinator Committee’s Planning Official, Dal Bahadur Basnet, pledged on behalf of the committee to protect and promote folk literature. RSS
