All preparations for election completed: Election Commission

Election CommissionKathmandu / Sept. 16: The Election Commission has said all the preparations have been completed for the third round local level elections in province number 2 on Monday.

Commission spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal said all employees including the security personnel deputed for the election duty have reached the polling booths, the distribution of the voters identity card has been taking place enthusiastically.

The task of imparting information to the voters on the right way of voting and marking the ballot paper has been on at the voting centres and the silence period of the election too was continuing peacefully.

Voting under the third phase local level election will take place from 7 am to 5 pm on September 18 in Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa districts of the Province No 2.

Three thousand five hundred and seventy seven polling booths have been set up in the districts for this purpose. Two million 664 thousand 950 eligible voters will exercise their franchise in the election.

The Election Commission has emphasized more on voter education in Province 2 this time based on the statistics that the number of invalid votes in the elections is higher than the national average in this province.

There are more than 37 thousand candidates contesting in the election.

EC further said the voting centers were thronged by the people to receiving voter ID card and learning the way to indicate the symbol.

It has appealed to all non government organizations and youth organizations of the political parties to help disseminate voter education in local languages.

Even the street dramas are organized to cater voter education to the citizens.

The EC this time has planned to announce the result within five days of the poll. The government has been directed for managing the places to count votes and necessary security arrangement for it. RSS
