Doctors demonstrate against Council of Ministers’ decision

doctorKathmandu / Sept. 21: The doctors, in the initiatives of medical associations, have demonstrated against the instruction given by the Council of Ministers to the Ministry of Health last Monday for formulating a Bill to make negligent doctors compensate patients.

The Bill aims to curb negligence on the part of doctors and make them compensate patients or their kin if found guilty of negligence during the course of treatment.

The doctors today demonstrated at Maitighar Mandala and demanded the government to withdraw the decision.

The emergency meeting of the Nepal Medical Association on Wednesday also demanded the same.

It had also decided to halt all the medical services in all health facilities except for emergency services from Thursday.

The healthcare providers have been drawing government’s attention to bring into effect the Health Institution Security Act-2066 and its Regulations-2069. RSS
