EC to print separate ballot papers

Election CommissionKathmandu / Oct 29: The Election Commission has concluded to print separate ballot papers. The conclusion came after the Supreme Court ordered the EC to print separate ballot papers for the upcoming elections of House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies under First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) electoral system.

Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has said that the EC has taken the verdict as positive and has concluded as per the verdict. “We accept the verdict from the apex court and will decide very soon”, said Yadav.

Following the consultation with the legal experts and other officials, the EC has reached the conclusion for separate ballot papers.

SC on Wednesday ordered the EC to print separate ballot papers for upcoming elections of House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies.

Meanwhile, the EC has said that printing of ballot papers for First-Past-the-Post election had been halted following SC’s order and ongoing legal consultation.
