Forming new government is prerogative of HoR: UML Chairman Oli

Oli after nominationKathmandu / Jan 10: CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the matter of formation of a new government was the prerogative of the House of Representatives.

Talking to media persons at Tribhuvan International Airport today before his departure to Bangkok of Thailand for a regular health check-up, Chairman Oli expressed dissatisfaction over the move of incumbent government and the Election Commission.

Chairman Oli said the government has been making delay in handing over the government by the incumbent government even after one month passed after the elections. He said, “Forming a new government is the independent right of HoR but it has been disrupted linking it with the National Assembly in the name of 33 per cent representation of women.”

Although election of House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies were held on November 26 and December 7, the result of proportional category has not been released yet.

Saying democracy could not move ahead by disrespecting the people’s mandate got from the elections, the CPN (UML) Chairman said that the incumbent government could only appoint provincial chiefs, determining temporary capitals of provinces along with handover the power.

He claimed that all conspiracies hatched to foil the unification between CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre) would be unsuccessful, saying unification between CPN (UML) and CPN (MC) would be soon.

Chair Oli said, “We are not worry about adjustment of post of different leaders. We are worry about people’s happiness and prosperity. The unification between the two parties will be expedited once I return from Bangkok.”

Chair Oli is scheduled to return home on January 16.RSS
