Govt to take steps to solve issues in ANFA, CAN, Olympic Committee

Sports MinisterKathmandu / Mar 24: Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Bishwokarma has stated that he would take appropriate steps to solve the various issues of Nepali sports.

Speaking at an interaction programme in Kathmandu on Saturday, Minister Bishwokarma said that he was committed to solve the existing issues in Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and Nepal Olympic Committee.

Minister Bishwokarma also claimed that preparations are already in full swing to host the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) on time. “We are capable of hosting the SAG in time and are now focused on formulating plans to construct and renovate the infrastructures needed for the sub-continental sports event,” said Minister Bishwokarma.

He also informed that a task force has been formed under Joint Secretary of the ministry in order to collect information regarding the under-construction infrastructures which are supposed to be concluded within this fiscal year.

“I am confident that all the infrastructures needed for SAG will be prepared in time,” added Minister Bishwokarma.

Nepal is scheduled to host SAG from March 9 to 18 next year but the infrastructures affected by the earthquake are yet to be renovated, whereas there is no notable progress in the construction of new venues.

Minister Bishwokarma also claimed that the government will allocate enough budget to build one stadium each in all seven provinces.

“We may not be able to manage the budget from our internal sources so we will also seek help from donors to build well equipped sporting venues in the country,” further added Minister Bishwokarma.
