Trekking route for people with disabilities comes into operation

Trekking-routeKathmandu / Mar 31: A trekking route that was developed targeting the people with disabilities has come into operation in Annapurna Rural Municipality- 1 of Kaski district.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari inaugurated the route amid a programme organised in the Capital on Saturday. The 1.3-kilometres route was developed with the financial assistance of Nepal Tourism Board and people’s voluntary labour.

“People with disabilities have different types of talents and will power and activeness would help them explore such potentialities.”

On the occasion, people with disabilities passed through the trekking route from Bhumeko Thaan to Himalayan Deurali Resort with the help of wheel chairs and white canes.

Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board Deepak Raj Joshi said, “The introduction of disabled-friendly trekking route was itself a message to the world that construction of such structure was possible in the country with geographical diversities like Nepal.” RSS
