Dharahara will be constructed soon: PM ; President visits Hanuman Dhoka

DharaharaKathmandu / Apr 25: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has committed to reconstructing Dharahara at the earliest possible time.

At a programme organised in memory of 2015 earthquake victims in the premises of Dharahara in Sundhara on Wednesday, the PM made such remark while expressing his condolences to those killed in the catastrophic disaster of 2015.

Saying that the country has advanced in the path of development and prosperity, the PM also appealed to all in the reconstruction and new-construction efforts along with the construction of Dharahara in the post-earthquake period.

The government has united to build cultural heritages and other infrastructures in the ancient styles by keeping their artistic designs intact, the PM added.

Likewise, he said that the people would be empowered in the days to come instead of the regime adding that prosperity was in sight in the country.

President visits Hanuman Dhoka

Meanwhile, President Bidya Devi Bhandari made an onsite observation of the ongoing reconstruction work in the Basantapur durbar square area on Wednesday.

The historical heritage sites including Kasthamandap and Hanumandhoka suffered extensive damage in the 25 April 2015 earthquake.

On the occasion, President Bhandari keenly observed and acquired information about the reconstruction activities taking place at Basantapur Gaddi Baithak, Kasthamandap and Hanuman Dhoka premises.

Following the observation, the President also directed the officials concerned to maintain the originality of the historical structures as per Nepali culture and traditions, while emphasizing on the need to give continuity to the work that has begun albeit late, according to Director General of the Department of Archaeology Bhesh Narayan Dahal.
