Govt endorses working procedure for fast-track
Kathmandu, June 4: The government has endorsed Kathmandu-Tarai Fast Track Road Project Operation Working Procedure to give more authority to the Nepal Army (NA) to speed up the construction of the 76.2-kilometer expressway.
A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Sunday endorsed the working procedure.
In May, 2017, the government had decided to award the fast-track project to the security agency instead of any foreign company. Of late, the security agency is preparing the detailed project report of the road project on its own.
Similarly, the NA has also set up security base camps at various locations to kick off the construction process.
A total of 331 army personnel have been deployed for the project. The army personnel are currently involved in clearing the forests in Bara for the construction while the process for distributing compensation for using the lands of the locals is underway. The NA has also announced tender to purchase construction equipment.
Similarly, the cabinet meeting on Sunday also directed various committees formed to monitor the progress of road projects across the country to continue its assigned task so as to complete the construction works on time, informed Information Minister Gokul Baskota, who is also the government’s spokesperson.
Likewise, the cabinet also endorsed the organizational structure of district administration offices, area administration offices, border administration offices, immigration offices and prison offices in line with the new federal setup.
“The cabinet also decided to initiate a second round of the students’ enrollment campaign. The campaign will mainly focus on Province 2 since large number of school-going students is still away from schools,” Minister Baskota told reporters following the cabinet meeting. (The Republica)
