Kathmandu, June 16/ Foreign affairs experts have said that the transit and transport treaties will probably be signed during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s upcoming visit to China.

Speaking at interaction programme in Kathmandu today, Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s central committee member and foreign affairs expert Rajan Bhattarai said that the treaties related to transit and transport might be signed during the visit. He further shared that Chinese sides may assist and invest in railways, roadways and energy, infrastructure, tourism, irrigation among other sectors in the visit.

Former ambassador Suresh Chalise viewed that PM Oli’s upcoming China trip would be fruitful if a good diplomatic strategy is used. “China should be made a development partner for the development of tourism, energy, agriculture, water resources and infrastructures of Nepal. The fact that frequent changes in political system and ideology in Nepal could affect investment and assistances should be taken into account,” he said.

Another former ambassador Hiranya Lal Shrestha echoed Chalise saying China should be made a development partner for Nepal’s development. “A joint investment should be promoted in agriculture, industry and production sector to balance Nepal’s trade loss and increase export. PM’s China visit should begin a new chapter in hydropower and energy,” he said.

Prime Minister Oli is embarking on a five-day official visit to China on June 19.RSS
