Stakeholders elated over Nepal-China agreement on Miteri Bridge reconstruction

Kathmandu, June 23/ With an agreement between Nepal and China for reconstruction of Miteri Bridge to revive trade through the Tatopani border point, the industrialists, entrepreneurs and stakeholders have expressed their pleasure, cheering the decision.

Moreover, locals are pleased to learn about the possible reopening of the Tatopani border which was shut after the ‘Gorkha Earthquake’ and China had closed the Tatopani border point citing safety concerns.

As an aftermath, the government of Nepal lost a good amount of revenue, cutting down jobs after the closure of the Tatopani border point, the short and accessible route to link Nepal to China.

Lawmaker of Sindhupalchowk-1 and leader of CPN Agni Prasad Sapkota said that his team’s efforts for reconstruction of Miteri Bridge have turned successful while lauding the agreement signed during Prime Minister Kp Oli’s visit to China.

“The repeated political and diplomatic efforts for reopening the border point have turned successful,” Sapkota said.

Moreover, Leader Sapkota also urged the government to pay attention to expansion and repair of the Araniko Highway.

A delegation led by leader Sapkota had drawn the attention of the Prime Minister to take initiative to open the border point.

Meanwhile, first Vice-Chairman of Sindhupalchowk Chapter of FNCCI, Shyam Krishna Shrestha, expressed happiness over ongoing efforts to resume the Tatopani border point and reconstruction of the Miteri Bridge.

“With the resumption of the border, I hope the business activities would thrive again,” he observed. RSS
