6 dead, 1 critical as jeep plunges 1,000 metres
Sallery, Solukhumbu, June 28/ As many as six persons died and one was critically injured after the jeep they were travelling on fell below the road in Necha Salyan Rural Municipality of Solukhumbu district on Friday morning.
Police have identified the deceased as Kusang Tamang (31) of Sisire-8 in Udayapur district, Shiva Kumar Yadav (36) of Sanaikha in Siraha, Shyam Kumar Rai (40) of Mamkha in Okhaldhunga, Kopila Basnet Karki (24) of Kalle-8 in Khotang, Urmila Banstola (35), and Sushila Khadka (25) of Necha Salyan-2 in Solukhumbu, according to Information Officer, Police Inspector Pradhumna Kumar Adhikari.Similarly, Sushma Khadka (8), daughter of Yubraj Khadka of Necha Salyan Rural Municipality-2 was injured in the incident and her condition is critical, said police. She is receiving treatment at District Hospital, Phaplu.
The incident occurred when the Jeep (Na 1 Ja 1860) en route from Necha Salyan to Salleri plunged around 1,000 metres below the road near Gupteshwor Mahadev Temple, located in the border of Tingla and Salyan, according to police.
The injured have been sent to Okhaldhunga-based Minas Hospital for treatment, informed police.
It has been learnt that there were seven passengers in the jeep when the accident occurred.
