Besisahar-Chame road being widened
Dumre, July 3: The road that links Manang district is being widened so that big vehicles transporting materials for the Upper Marsyangdi Hydropower Project can pass easily.
People are thrilled with the start of the road upgrading process in their locality. The Upper Marsyangdi Hydropower Project itself is widening the road.
The road that reaches Chame of Manang from Besisahar of Lamjung has become narrow for the heavy vehicles carrying project materials. In coordination with the Road Division Office, Butwal Power Company that is promoting the project is upgrading this road section.
According to the project, earlier the Road Division Office had appointed another contractor to build a road to Manang and upgrade the risky section of the road at Rs. 220 million.
But after the contractor company delayed in completing the work, the project started working on the road by taking permission.
The road section from Besisahar to the Lake area of Manang has already been widened using excavators.
The Road Division Office has stopped the road construction work after the hydropower project initiated the upgrading process, Gautam Shrestha, an engineer of Road Division Office of Tanahu, said.
Temporary wooden bridges along the road have been replaced with the construction of concrete bridges in process.
