5 killed, 1 critically injured in Nuwakot chopper crash

Altitude AirKathmandu / Sept 08: Five people were killed, one critically injured while the other one is still missing in an Altitude Air helicopter crash that occurred in Meghan rural municipality in Nuwakot district on Saturday morning, confirmed DSP Bhim Lal Bhattarai.

Captain Nischal KC is among those killed in the helicopter crash. Ani Dolma Dikki from Gorkha has been critically injured. The rest are yet to be identified, DSP Bhim Lal Bhattarai informed.

DSP Bhattarai along with 10 police officials has reached the accident site for resuce. According to Bhattari, the accident site is eight hours walk from the nearest police post and covered in dense forest. The search operation has been hit by bad weather. A dense fog has covered the accident site.

A total of seven people incuding Captain Nischal KC were on board the ill-fated helicopter.

The other passengers include Hiromi Konafi, a Japanese national, Dilli Bahadur Gurung (Ramechhap), Hira Sherpa (Dolakha), Chowang Nurbu (Gorkha), and Sunil Tamang (Sindhupalchowk).
