Petroleum pipeline project making good progress, says visiting Indian Minister

Petroleum PipelineJanakpur / Sept 29: Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, has said the Motihari-Amlekhgunj petrol pipeline project’s performance is good.

Talking to journalists in Janakpurdham on Saturday, he said, “Looking at the performance of the project indicates that the pipeline extension work is going to be completed within the deadline.”

He said the 69-kilometer long Motihari-Amlekhgunj Petrol Pipeline Expansion Project is being implemented with the investment of 322 crores Indian rupees as desired by the Nepali people, adding that the pipeline extension works are being carried out by paying special attention to prevent any natural and other complications in petrol supply.

On the occasion, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Matrika Prasad Yadav said 60 percent of the petroleum pipeline construction works have been completed. He believed that the supply of petroleum products would be smooth and easier, and the transportation cost also reduced after the project is completed and becomes operational.

Stating that discussions were on regarding the feasibility study of the Mahendranagar-Muzaffarpur gas pipeline project, Minister Yadav said that setting up a skill development center with the assistance of India in Dhanushadham of Dhanusha district was also under discussion.

In response to a question, the Supply Minister clarified that the price of petroleum products has been increased in Nepal due to the increase in petrol prices in the international market. RSS
