Over 2 million undergo eye check up in Nepalgunj-based hospital

Eye articleNepalgunj / Oct 28: The Nepalgunj-based Fattebal Eye Hospital run by Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh has so far provided its service to 2.46 million people in its 32 years of establishment.

A total of 228,664 people underwent surgery for their eyes during the period at the hospital, says its manager Kaushal Kumar Verma. More than 12,000 others also underwent surgery in the health camps organized by the hospital in different locations at different times during the same period.

The hospital currently provides full-time OPD, paying clinic, fast-track surgery, medicine and spectacles, pathology services while also running a college to produce ophthalmology assistants.

Presenting a progress report of the hospital at the 25th district assembly of the Association here on Saturday, Secretary Shanti Shrestha shared that a modern surgery room, ward, doctor’s residence and other structures were being built with the support of the Indian Embassy and the District Coordination Committee.
