KMC’s drive for city beautification gains pace
Kathmandu / Jan 11: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has paced its drive for city beautification by managing rampantly-placed wires and cables alongside the streets.
According to KMC Spokesperson Ishwor Man Dangol, the city beautification drive is emphatically gaining momentum now however it was initiated on November 2017.
“The wires and cables installed unsystematically by different agencies has eroded the beauty of the city so the concerned bodies have been urged not to install and extend the cables in a haphazard way,” Dangol said.
Works have already been initiated to remove the wires installed haphazardly and only well-placed ones will be kept, he added.
The removal of wires has been carried out at Putalisadak, Exhibition Road, Lainchaur, Soaltee Mode and the places around the President’s Office in the first phase.
The management of the wires has become inevitable from public security and beatification perspective.
Likewise, the KMC also has paid attention on removing poles unmanageably installed on the streets and cutting down branches of old trees alongside the road. RSS
