‘Gandaki Province will be child-friendly’

Pokhara / Feb 25: Gandaki Province Chief Minster Prithvi Subba Gurung said Gandaki would turn to be child-friendly province.

He said this in his address to a two-day child gathering and child council formation programme organised by the province Ministry of Social Development in Pokhara on Sunday.

The Chief Minster pledged that each structure of the province would be child –friendly.

The Gandaki province is highly sensitive in ensuring child rights, Gurung said, adding the province would come up with separate policy to lower mistreatment against children.

Violence against children is on the rise due to uncontrolled trade of alcohol, he pointed out the need to check rampant sale of alcohol.

Almost 93 percent children have access to education in Gandaki province, Chief Minister Gurung claimed, expressing commitment to devise programme to bring other remaining children to educational reach.

Also on the occasion, Khumraj Sharma, representative of Disabled Federation, highlighted the need of constructing disabled-friendly structure along with the child-friendly ones.

NGO Federal central general secretary Ram Prasad Subedi urged the province government to lay emphasis on child friendly policy while framing any law and policy.RSS
