Province govt team inspects site to construct int’l cricket ground

Pokhara / Feb 27: A provincial government team has inspected a project site at Pashupatighat, Bharatpokhari in Pokhara Metropolitan City-33 as part of a plan to build an international cricket ground.

The project has been prioritised after Gandaki Province government announced construction of the ground in its policies and programmes for the fiscal year of 2018/19.

The team led by the provincial minister for social development Naradevi Pun carried out a feasibility study, said the ministry’s under-secretary Tej Prasad Kafle.

The location has been specified for the project at the initiative of the then regional administrator Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya. “The area is suitable for the project from every aspect including geography,” said Sanjaya Kanta Sigdel, president of the Nepal Cricket Association, Kaski.

The project area covers around 200 ropani of land on the banks of the Seti river. Once completed, the project is expected to boost the inflow of tourists. RSS
