Minister Gyawali attends the UN Human Rights Council high-level segment
Kathmandu / Feb 28: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali attended the third and final day of the high-level segment of the 40th session of the UN Human Rights Council on Wednesday.
Also, on the sidelines, Minister Gyawali had bilateral meetings with Epsy Campbell Barr, First Vice-President of Costa Rica and with Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation of Myanmar. Matters of bilateral interests, regional and multilateral cooperation were discussed during the meetings, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) informed.
Likewise, the Foreign Minister also met Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and shared Nepal’s experience on the peace process, democratic transition, legislative measures, and inclusive development approach.
The Foreign Minister mentioned that Nepal has now focused its attention on addressing issues pertaining to truth and reconciliation in line with the concerns of victims, the Supreme Court’s verdict, and relevant international commitments.
Similarly, the Foreign Minister had a meeting with Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization. Enhancing partnership with the WHO on universal health coverage, maternal health and quality health services were discussed during the meeting.
Earlier, the Foreign Minister visited the Geneva-based European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) where he was briefed by CERN officials on areas of international collaboration in particle physics and research on science and technology for the benefits of all.RSS
